65 hour fasting: an experiene of a lifetime for the Dream Act

I have nine left minutes before I can stuff myself with apples and carrots. I have nine minutes left before my head ache can stop hurting. I have nine minutes left to call our Senator Kay Hagan and tell her that I fasted for 65 hours because she will no co-sponsor the Dream Act. Many people think I am "starving myself" for this cause. In reality I am not starving myself, I'm simply using a Christan faith based way of asking God for the Dream Act to pass with Sen. Kay Hagan Co-sponsoring it. Before I started to fast, I researched many websites that explained the purpose of water fasting and the significance of it.

Through almost three days of fasting I learned that fasting is much more then thinking about food all day or even being close to God. It's about thinking spiritually and cleansing your soul. It's a difficult process but anyone can do it. Behind all of this profound basics about fasting, the only true reason I started to fast is because the Dream Act has not been passed in congress. However, with activist students and a group leaders of our community, I believe the Dream Act will be passed. It's really the only hope undocumented students have for high education. Despite all of this nonsense of high illegal should go back to their country, despite the discrimination these students go through, despite the differences between their legal status, these students should have the FULL RIGHT to attend college. They deserve it because they worked hard. It's not like they stepped in to THEIR (US) country at a the age of graduating high school. These students have been here since they were little boys and girls and it's not their fault for being forced to be in a country that they now call HOME.

That is why I am fasting because it is unfair, unjustified, and unbarring to see so many undocumented students do so well but at the end they reach nothing. This is a time where American Citizens need to stand up and speak for those who are silent. To speak for those who are scared. Don't worry guys, I have your back until the day we pass the Dream Act. I am not resting until the Dream Act passes into congress. I will not rest until then.

My partner Monse Alvarez also fasted with me for 65 hours. She was a great support. We've talked everyday since the beginning journey to fasting and now we succeed. This a wide and personal goal in life. I thought I could never eat for 65 hours but I did. If I failed, I failed all of those undocumented student who can't go to college. If I've failed, I failed myself and the people who supported me until the end. But every second, minute, hour and day was like every undocumented student who deserved the Dream Act and have the freedom to attend college. Senator Kay Hagan: bless your heart, soul, and you life, please listen to those who DO have voices. Please listen to our prayers. Pass the Dream Act.

Call Senator Kay Hagan and tell her about my journey with Fasting for 65 hours because she will not Co-sposor the Dream Act.

Call Senator Hagan and tell her that we are fasting because she will NOT Co-Sponsor the DREAM Act.
